Houston Dynamo FC delivered one of its sharpest performances of the 2026 MLS season on Sunday night, beating LAFC 4-1 at BMO Stadium behind a two-goal night from Jack McGlynn and a ruthless second-half surge.

LAFC had long spells on the ball and spent much of the opening 20 minutes pushing Houston backward, but the Dynamo showed early that possession would not decide the match. Houston’s first major counterattack brought the breakthrough in the 25th minute, when Lawrence Ennali found McGlynn near the top of the box and the midfielder curled a left-footed finish beyond Hugo Lloris.

The visitors doubled the lead in the 34th minute after earning a free kick just outside the area. Guilherme drove a low effort toward goal, and a deflection carried it past Lloris to make it 2-0, giving Houston full control of the scoreboard even as LAFC continued to generate pressure.

LAFC found a response just before halftime, cutting the deficit to 2-1 through Nathan Ordaz. Jacob Shaffelburg’s low delivery was helped on by Stephen Eustáquio, and Ordaz finished from close range to give the home crowd a reason to believe the match could still turn.

That hope disappeared quickly after the restart. Former LAFC attacker Mateusz Bogusz struck in the 51st minute, reacting after his first attempt was blocked and finishing with his left foot to restore Houston’s two-goal cushion.

Four minutes later, McGlynn completed his brace. The midfielder again found space and beat Lloris with a low shot, pushing Houston ahead 4-1 and effectively ending LAFC’s comeback hopes before the match had reached the hour mark.

The final score was especially jarring because LAFC finished with more possession and more total shots, but Houston’s efficiency told the story. Jonathan Bond made five saves for the Dynamo, helping protect the lead while LAFC’s attack struggled to turn volume into goals.

For Houston, the result continued a strong run of form and gave the club another statement win against a Western Conference opponent. The Dynamo’s confidence showed in their transitions, their set-piece execution, and their ability to strike immediately when LAFC left space.

For LAFC, the loss dropped the club to 6-3-3 with 21 points and exposed defensive issues that had appeared in back-to-back matches. With the FIFA World Cup break approaching, the performance left the Black & Gold with clear work to do before the schedule tightens again.
